I would say this is a solid step above the last two generations. It doesn't require an app, and has no internet connectivity which for me were huge pros towards this model, I’m looking for a cute robot friend and with it continuing to call the user “bestie” it delivers. I would say it’s lacking in the immersion the 98 and 05 had in not starting off in furbish and going to English, the “teaching the furby” aspect seems lost to time and instead this furby is teaching you, songs, fun facts, and breathing exercises and affirmations. It also will tell your fortune, and do the random copycat feature. While they are cute I can see the novelty wearing off when you are talking to your furby and it always acts like you are telling it a really cool story,

I could see a child telling furby they were sad or something and this furby being way too ultra positive to the point where it may even say something too happy for such a situation whereas furbish is more up to interpretation. Overall I think for the money this is a cute device, albeit very very optimistic, with none of the sassy things of the 05 or 98 version and less of the raising a creature curve and more of the “fun pet that speaks English” vibe. I think some of the lingo it says will be dated in a few years. I also think burp and fart jokes are cheap but I know I loved them as a kid so I can see the demographic. Overall a gorgeous robot friend to love so much. (Forgot to add the light show feature makes a GREAT timed nightlight for kids). Seems durable though I wouldn’t throw it down stairs or anything. High quality. VERY soft. You need to say hey furby first after pressing the heart then WAIT for the ears to turn green and the response sound before giving the command.

I’ve seen a lot of YouTubers get upset not understanding that part. It also DOES dance to music when played by its microphone “twinkle toes” being one of the things I’ve heard it say while it dances and it’s ears go rainbow. I believe it also said “drop that fur beat” But not as immersive as the booms and connects were it seems. I’ve yet to test it with a buddy. This is from the perspective of an adult who collects toys, not from that of a parent. I ordered this Furby right when it became officially announced and available, and decided to go with same day delivery using a Prime trial so I could get it ASAP.
I'm a toy collector who grew up with the original 1998 Furby, as well as the 2005 reboot, and have some experience with every Furby iteration up to now. This new 2023 Furby, from my experience with it so far, is overall comparable in the interactivity to that of past models. This Furby has a lot of phrases it can say, and different modes (though I've yet to try them all out). The ears light up and change color, the eyes blink, it has multiple pet sensors and a tilt sensor.

This Furby lacks the digital eyes that the past two (2012/Boom & the 2016 Connects) iterations featured, and instead opts for eyes that are painted. Some people may see this as a downgrade, but as someone whose Furbies primarily sit on a shelf without batteries in, I prefer this style of eyes since I feel that they look better on display. The eyes can blink.

My one major complaint about this iteration of Furby is that the mouth does not move, it is always open. You can feed the Furby by pressing the tongue as you could with prior models, but the mouth can't shut.

Unlike the past couple models of Furby, this one does not have an associated app, so all functionality is included with the Furby itself, not requiring you to use another device. I consider this to be a positive, considering apps eventually shut down.

I really love the bright colors of this model, the soft fur, and that it comes with a necklace for the Furby. Putting necklaces on Furbies is a very popular way to dress them up among Furby collectors, and I'm curious if that's what inspired Hasbro to include a necklace with this latest release.

Overall, I'm very happy to see a new Furby come out for the line's 25th anniversary, though I do wish the mouth moved.

I've purchased 2 furbys for my daughters ready for Christmas when they were on offer. There is an option at checkout to hide the packaging so definitely pick that option or the postage label will be stuck to the box. My only disappointment is that I wanted to test the Furby's to make sure they worked before I put them away for Christmas. It's difficult to subtly open the box because of the "unboxing" feature with the key you rip. I've ended up taking a knife to the opposite side of the box to test the furbies and then gluing the box back together. Bit annoying there isn't an easier way to test them when buying for a gift, noone wants a broken furby on christmas day! I've also had to reset the Furby's to make sure they say hi when first opened. The actually furby looks cute and nostalgic for me having had one in the 90s. The voice is perhaps a bit annoying but isn't that half of the fun of furbys! I think my daughters will have lots of fun with them at Christmas. I would say this is a solid step above the last two generations. Overall, I'm very happy to see a new Furby come out for the line's 25th anniversary, though I do wish the mouth moved. My first impression about these Furbies were that I wasn't impressed. I've been collecting Furbies since the original release, and I impulse bought these to add to my collection. I bought both the purple and the coral colors and I honestly like the coral more than the purple. Corals hair is slightly longer and it kind of hangs down in the furbs face a little bit giving it a windblown messy look. They have a few different features, my favorite being the "lets chill" command. It can help a child, or adult, go through breathing exercises to calm down. As well as reciting positive affirmations to help lift moods. This is something I truly would have liked to see in the originals as well, but technology just wasn't there yet.

Their eyes do move, they blink. They are not LED eyes like prior models. These two do not need internet connection, nor apps that will be discontinued a couple years down the road. They are about the same height as the original 98's (as you can see in my photo) and they are a little wider so overall they are bigger (slightly) than the original. Their tummies are hard, I do sometimes struggle to "tickle" the furby and instead I just have to hold it in both hands and give a gentle squeeze. Their mouths do not close, I wish they did... but... they don't. You can still feed Furby by pressing on the tongue, and occasionally might get a little sass for it in typical Furby fashion.
Overall I do look forward to seeing what new colors might be released, I am much more inclined to get them beyond the "oo new Furby, must have".
